A floating flat reamer holder with a rigid fixation with replaceable bushings allows a reamer with a clamping plane or a square on the shank to be rigidly fixed in the mandrel, which prevents the reamer from slipping, as in a drill chuck.

The floating holder allows the reamer to remain parallel to the bore, compensating for misalignment or wear between the tailstock and the chuck.

Floating reamer holders are used on manufacturing machines such as single spindle lathes, multi-spindle lathes, drilling machines. They are mainly used for reamers and can also be used for hard drilling/centering.
